The Byron Poemas ends our look at the Selected Tobacco line by Nelson Alfonso. This 4 7/8 x 52 cigar has a smooth seamless build to it with a light brown wrapper. Like the rest of the Selected Tobacco cigars, the make up of the cigar is a secretive blend.
The prelight smells offer hints of hay, honey, and cedar. The first draw hits with sweet hay, floral notes, and cedar up front with a hint of spice on the finish. Towards the end of the first third, a slight hint of roasted nuts and dried fruit has appeared. During the second third of the cigar, the spice has become a bit muted leaving just the hay, nuts, fruit and cedar flavor profile.
The construction of the cigar is just like the rest of Selected Tobacco cigars. A nice firm pack making the burn consistent and causing the ash to cling to the cigar. At the end of the final third, the profile now has a sweet molasses, nuts, coffee and dried fruit. Overall this is a fantastically constructed cigar with a sweet flavor profile
