Cigar Co-Op Review Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration

At the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show, Arturo Fuente Cigars unveiled a new blend under its Casa Cuba brand known as the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration. This blend holds special significance to the Fuente company as it was the last blend worked on by the late Carlos Fuente Sr. The concept of the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration is that Fuente Sr. had a dream about a modified version of the Casa Cuba blend. Fuente Sr became inspired to make what he dreamt about into reality. At that time, Fuente Sr. was not well enough to travel to the Dominican Republic to work on the blend, but he was able to phone into the factory and give direction on what needed to be done. The end result was the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration. Shortly after his passing in August 2016, Fuente Sr’s blend would be released to the market. Today, we take a look at the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration. Overall I found this to be an enjoyable cigar – and one that is quite different from the original Casa Cuba line.

The original Casa Cuba brand was a creation of Fuente Sr. The brand itself is unique to Fuente in that it doesn’t carry the Fuente name on the packaging. Casa Cuba was originally soft-launched to select retailers in late 2013. At the time, it was released with a special secondary band that said “Pre Release 2013”. Once Casa Cuba became more widely available, the secondary band was dropped. While the Casa Cuba line is a regular production offering, the Divine Inspiration is a more limited release.

Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration and see what this cigar brings to the table.

Blend Profile

Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration is blended at the Fuente’s Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia factory in the Dominican Republic. It features an Ecuadorian wrapper over Dominican binder and filler. Arturo Fuente Cigars has said this is a different blend that the original Casa Cuba; however to what extend, we do not know.

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Havana
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican
Country of Origin: Dominican Republic (Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia)

Vitolas Available

The Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration has been released in one size – a 6 1/8 x 47 Short Churchill. The cigar is packaged in 30 count boxes.

Appearance

The Ecuadorian wrapper of the Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration has a slightly weathered looking light brown color to it. The wrapper itself seemed a couple of shades darker than a typical Connecticut Shade wrapper would look like. There was a light coating of oil on the wrapper. The wrapper itself had some visible veins and visible wrapper seams.

The primary band features a red and gold shield sitting on a black circular background surrounded by a gold wreath. Above the wreath is the text “Casa Cuba” in a partial red colored cursive font on a pale yellow background. Below the wreath is the text “FLOR FINA” in red font. To the left and right of the front of the band is a gold medallion sitting on a red background. On the far left side is the text “HAND MADE” in small red font on a pale yellow background. On the far right side is the text “SANTIAGO” in small red font also sitting on a pale yellow background. The remainder of the band has gold trim.
